On December 13th 2014, new legislation was introduced that required all food outlets to clearly provide allergy and intolerance information on all unpackaged food. With fourteen items on the list, and a rather hefty fine and/or prison sentence on the line, it has been a rather large step for those in the industry.
That said, it is a very important and necessary change. For people living with allergies, even the smallest of measures, a poppy seed or two, can cause a huge reaction and in some cases even fatality. For the sake of labelling your produce, you could literally be saving a life – put that way, it doesn’t seem quite so inconvenient right?
We understand the importance of adhering to all Health and Safety rules, as time-effectively and easily as possible, which is why we created our Allergen Labels. With simple tick boxes, you can clearly illustrate the ingredients present, in less than a minute. For even more efficiency, we also offer combination preparation and allergen labels, that have spaces to write Use By/Defrost/Frozen/Prepared dates as well as the allergen ingredients, as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for your food labelling needs.
By having pre-printed labels, you reduce the risk of mistakes, and the amount of pressure on your staff to memorise the list of allergens. Training will be simpler and you can be confident that the new rules are being carefully observed with minimal disruption to your workflow.
